The world keeps changing and we keep growing, and it’s easy to lose sight of all we’ve done since we launched last year! For new friends and old, here’s the story of Wyngraf in seven bite-sized chunks.
- Wyngraf was announced on January 12th, 2022. Our original goal was to publish a magazine of cozy fantasy fiction four times a year. The first issue arrived on May 1st and was an immediate hit, winning great reviews and earning back its budget in under three months.
- To date, we’ve published…
- Wyngraf #1
- Wyngraf #2
- Wyngraf #3
- Cozy Fantasy Romance Special 2023
- At the Winding Path’s End, an illustrated chapbook of cozy fantasy poetry
- We ran a weekly flash fiction series on our website for about a year, and published nearly fifty free-to-read stories from authors like Ziggy Schutz, L Chan, and Hugo winner Cora Buhlert.
- We love our mailing list! We’re up to nine free stories for members, with a new exclusive story every month.
- Our budget is tiny, but we strive for total financial transparency and better pay for creatives. As of Wyngraf #3, we increased author pay to 1.5 cents per word.
- In May 2023, we ran our first Kickstarter, to produce editor Nathaniel Webb’s cozy fantasy novel Bard City Blues. It was a runaway success: funding in under two hours, making us scramble to invent new stretch goals when we blew through the original list, and eventually closing a hair under $6,000.
- Coming up:
- August 1: The Little Cozy Book, an anthology of the best flash fiction from our web series plus several all-new stories!
- September: Wyngraf #4
- September (probably): Bard City Blues. The first novel under the Wyngraf banner will see wide release as soon as the Kickstarter is fulfilled!
- November: The Saberlight Chronicles. Written by Fellowship singer Matthew Corry, this illustrated novella tells the story behind 2022’s biggest power metal debut!
- Early 2024: The Great Elvish Bake Off. The sequel to Bard City Blues, fully illustrated by fantasy painter Cris Puga!
